Up to now, there are 628 full-time teachers in the college, including 118 professors, 234 associate professors and the other 64 with higher academic titles. Besides, among the teaching staff, there are 316 with Master’s Degree (50.32% of the total), 54 with Doctorial Degree (8.6% of the total). The college has attached a great importance to the training and promotion of academic leaders and excellent and promising young, key teachers and in the echelon development of the teaching staff. 40 professionals of the teachers have been awarded with State-leveled special subsidies, 6 with provincial-leveled special subsidies; 6 have been selected as the candidates for “ Hundred, thousand and ten thousand” three-leveled talents, two has nominated as the mid-aged and young experts with outstanding contribution, and 22 as the talented professional in “313” project of our Autonomous Region.
The college confers the Bachelors’ Degree to the students in medicine, administration and Science with 25 specialties and professional directions, forming a characteristic education system with the medical specialties as the main, the co-existence of both Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as? the coordinative development of multi-specialties.?
The college offers 4 levels of teaching courses namely the postgraduates, undergraduates, high and secondary vocational training courses, with the highest employment rate among the graduates in Ningxia. It also has 5 provincial-leveled key curriculum, 19 fine courses; 1 specialty with the national characteristic advantage; and 5 experimental teaching demonstration centers of the Region.
The scientific research work of the college has seen its gradual progress and the steady development. In recent 5 years, totally 900 various scientific research programs have been approved. ?62 programs have been awarded with provincial (Ministry) Sci tech Advancement
Prizes ( including 2 first prizes); 80 works? published ( chief authors / co-authors).The school pays a great attention to the overall coordination of scientific and technological resources, rational optimization of the arrangement, emphasis on the sci-tech platform construction for key disciplines and? key labs, etc.
At present, There are 9 key disciplines in the school (one ministry-leveled and 8 province-leveled); 2 province-leveled key labs, Reproductive Genetics Lab and Cranial Diseases Lab.? And some obvious progresses have been achieved in the researches? in spinal TB, Echinococcosis, as well as the reproductive genetics and cranial diseases. The school also has also performed Hui Ethnic Medical Education, established Hui Ethnic Medical Research Institute, trying to have the Hui ethnic medical education and research as one of the specific characters in its medical education.
The school started its postgraduate education work as early as in the year of 1978, up to now, it offers the Master Degree conferring right in 1 1st grade discipline ( Clinical medicine), 28 2nd grade disciplines, with 27 batches of graduates. It, right now, has 545 graduate students in school and has the accumulative enrollment number of 829.
The school now has one direct Affiliated Hospital and 4 indirect Affiliated Hospitals, 8 teaching hospitals; and 66 basis for field practices. With the hospital beds over 1900, the direct Affiliated hospital has become a general multi-functioned 3-grade, 1st class hospital? in medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and high-rank cadres’ care, etc. It has the annual outpatient number up to over 600 thousand, the inpatient number to 39 thousand and the operation number to 16 thousand.?
